Literacy Target - Each student in KS3 and KS4 will receive a literacy target by their English teacher. This target will be a literacy focus across all their subjects. Please make sure that your son/daughter/guardian is aware of their literacy target, and how they can work to improve in relation to this target. There are suggested strategies for each target that students can follow – these are not meant to be exhaustive, but are a starting point. Please go through these with your son/daughter/guardian to help support them, and remind them of to focus on the target when completing work across their subjects. For more information please visit the Literacy at Edenham page.

A Red Nose Day Thank You!

Edenham students and staff raised £1,621.16 for our Comic Relief ‘Wear Red Mufti Day’ fundraising event which took place on Friday13th March. A huge thank you to all students who donated and supported Red Nose Day this year. Students enjoyed ‘Mini Events’ throughout the day which included cake sales, refreshments, red nose sales, busking at break time, hotdog eating competitions, sweep stakes, sponsored silences and runs and even a run home in a onesie contest. A special thank you goes to our team in the canteen who made tasty Red Nose day cookies for the students, Mr Diego for dressing up as a clown and to the students and staff who went the extra mile who made this day a success and enjoyable for all.
Thank you to our deputy head boys and girls who gave students the motivation and excitement to fundraise, by delivering personalised assemblies & informative presentations (provided by Comic Relief) to each year group.
By raising awareness, students were valuably educated about the issues children across the world face, giving them the understanding, empathy & valuable life skills to make a change.

 Dan Snow Visit to Edenham

On Thursday 12th March our Year 10, 11 and 6th form History students and a large number of Year 9s had the privilege of attending a talk by BBC presenter and historian Dan Snow. Dan talked about the importance of studying History and emphasised why History is essential to understanding the world today and current issues and conflicts. Dan also gave examples of how the skills used by historians to investigate and interrogate evidence help us to question the reliability of information presented in the media.

Dan’s talk was followed by questions from the students; he was particularly impressed with the quality of questions asked, which were insightful and showed extensive knowledge of current affairs and also the aspirations of the students. Some of the students’ questions concerned the role of the United Nations, Britain’s role in the European Union, Russian control of the Crimea and ISIS. The students involved found the talk very informative and motivating. Alex Cordier in Year 13 said that “Dan stressed the fact that you can achieve any goal regardless of your background, using his ancestor, WWI Prime Minister David Lloyd George, as an example of this” and Murat Kurt, also in Year 13, said “Dan has encouraged me to look behind the headlines and research the how past issues have affected current conflicts”. We are extremely grateful to Dan for giving his time so freely to our students, and for answering their questions so thoughtfully and honestly. We would also like to thank the charity Speakers4schools for arranging this wonderful opportunity, and Mrs Naughton for making the original application to them.

Show My Homework

We are pleased to announce that we are now running Show My Homework at Edenham. This system allows all teachers to upload homework onto the online platform so that students and parents can access it through the online calendar. There is a link to this on the tabs to the left. Students and parents can also login to look at specific homework set for that child. Parents of more than one student at Edenham can combine accounts together for ease of use.

The system allows us to send home all letters, bulletins and important information to registered users. Students can see a countdown to all the homework set for their classes and parents can see whether or not it was submitted and potentially what grade was achieved for the work.

Show My Homework is now fully functioning at Edenham, please ensure you are logging in to check homework that has been set.

Students have now all received their login details for themselves and for their parent/carers. If you did not receive your information or are having trouble logging in please contact your son/daughters current Head of Progress Team who will be happy to assist you.  For Head of Progress contact emails, please click on contact us, teacher emails.

Thank you
