Year 10 GCSE Information Evening - 22nd September 2014
Year 10 GCSE Information Evening is taking place Tuesday 22nd September at 6pm.
The headline figures for 2014 are 46%-50% English and Mathematics and three other GCSE’S, although these on first glance are not what we had expected it certainly does not tell the true story of Edenham’s examination results. Examination outcomes this year are very difficult to compare with other schools and previous academic years groups due to the examination reforms taking place. As you may have read in the national press the results throughout the country were volatile and affected a range of schools across all abilities and status.
Despite the downward trend in English across the country our results have again increased with outstanding rates of progress. Other highlights for this year came in MFL, Geography, RE, Science and Photography
Our Yr10 students who sat exam early in Science, Statistics and Community Languages produced exceptional results. 40 students all passed these exams with 21 A*/A grades. Well done.

The Music Department at Edenham High School would like to encourage the development of our young musicians by providing instrumental tuition through specialist teachers from Croydon Music Service. Initially, we will source teachers for the standard instruments (Guitar, Bass, Piano, Voice and Drums) but we will endeavour to support students with an interest in other instruments. If interested in finding out more, please complete and return the music tuition form to Mr. Watters by Monday 29 September 2014. Once we have a clear idea of the level of interest, we will contact parents/ guardians with further information on fees and provision. Please contact me with any questions: firstname.lastname@example.org

Year 9 History trip to WWI battlefields – Friday 14th November 2014
To mark the centenary of WWI, the History department has arranged a new trip to the battlefields of Ypres in Belgium for Year 9 on Friday 14th November. Students will visit a variety of sites including British and German war graves, reconstructed trenches and a memorial museum. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to have a real experience of what the battlefields of WWI were like and understand the scale of sacrifice made by so many. It will also enhance their understanding of WWI and put into context what they will study in Year 9 History.
Please can students see Miss Chappell in classroom L1 for a letter about the trip.
Show My Homework
We are pleased to announce that we are now running Show My Homework at Edenham. This system allows all teachers to upload homework onto the online platform so that students and parents can access it through the online calendar. There is a link to this on the tabs to the left. Students and parents can also login to look at specific homework set for that child. Parents of more than one student at Edenham can combine accounts together for ease of use.
The system allows us to send home all letter, bulletins and important information to registered users. Students can see a countdown to all the homework set for their classes and parents can see whether or not it was submitted and potentially what grade was achieved for the work.
We are currently running Show My Homework as a trial for this half term to see all the things it can do. Already many of our staff and students are using it. It will be fully functioning in September when all homework for every class will be posted online. By then a free phone app will also be available for all users.
Students were given login details for themselves and parent/carers on the last day of last half term. If you did not receive that information please contact email@example.com
